Tuscan Bathroom Flooring

Tuscan Bathroom Flooring

Just as with other flooring in a Tuscan inspired space, the flooring in your Tuscan bathroom should follow suit.  This means having a continuation of the materials used in standard Tuscan design.  Natural.  Just as in the kitchen, natural stones—slate, granite, white marble, limestone, sandstone…Travertine.  Tiles, like clay tiles and Terra cotta, can be used.  For bathrooms, I actually prefer to use white marble, limestone, or sandstone.

Granite is beautiful– strong focal point.  Very hard.  Very sturdy.  It definitely gets the big “oohs and ahhs…” but as you may know it can get to be pretty pricey.  Especially when used for flooring.  Homeowners often turn to granite for their kitchen design, as this material is one of the best for counter tops and kitchen island tabletops.  Limestone is really good to use in bathroom shower interiors.  Although it stains easily, this is probably my most recommended material for the shower.  Marble is porous.  It is also soft.  Fantastic for bathroom flooring.

In a Tuscan bathroom, you also again, have the option to use natural wood paneling for flooring.  If you cannot afford the “true” natural wood, there are planks that are made to look and feel like natural wood.  True, as well as natural wood looking flooring, can be found at your local hardware and flooring store.  Keep checking in back in the Tuscan-Home-101 VIP Members’ Area.  The Tuscan Design Center is coming soon…
